There’s an article in today’s Guardian which is very much connected to the theme. I won’t say more, but if you know the theme and wish to search for the article you will find it. Surely no coincidence.

Thankyou Prospero. Done now except for redactions. 20/4 is possibly the most stupid clue I have seen for a while.

re redaction - summary from your exchanges:

1. Clues that cross the answers are redacted.
2. The specific word that contains a letter from solution is redacted.
3. If multiple letters of solutions occur in the lights or otherwise, words containing those are redacted.

jono, re 25/3 I guess that could be a definition; I also thought of the 8 word stuff, but, as you say, word-lengths don't match.

Will add, "perhaps": true, solution, new, steam to your collection.

well (pace mattrom) what do you think of "remnant of one myopic mouse" as a clue for 25?

The worst for ages! I only bothered sorting out one redaction, and was puzzled all the way through trying to fit Burgess and Maclean et al. into the grid. In the end I found most of the characters weren't names anyway.

As for the redactions, I haven't bothered and just pressed ahead with solutions and partial explanations.

puzz - your E is in the wrong place in 20. When you say you have "the four", do you mean four characters or 4d (which is linked to 20)?

Ah. In that case my 16d is incorrect. I have 4d answer, I think. Plus the four characters. It's just 20a I had missing.

If I understand the hints, then it's another look at 16d that's required.
