Think the redaction is merely the wordplay elements of the names in the grid.

Don’t think you actually need to work out the precise redactions

I have all bar 2d and 16d. I have all the names. There are quite a few that I can't justify through wordplay.

ilippu, in addition, I'm sure of redaction in 3d. I can't see any commonality or links to theme. All a little unsatisfactoty although there may be a PDM lying in wait.

I haven't looked at the submission form.

The 5 cells, randomly pick them? I don't see a nina.

2d. First two words definition. 4,2,2

16d. My 2nd last. Last word is definition. Had to verify my answer.

ah, counter ... very well thought out, jono. I've been sure of the musical in 8d all day but unable to parse the last 5 letters. So I can probably submit now but if anyone has a clue as to how to unravel the redactions, it would be welcome ...

21d first redaction is just one letter..again,
don't know why. Requires more thought.
