18a “tips” as you might expect indicates two letters which may be interpreted a certain way…

19d one letter inside the name (location) of a rock festival.

Ah of course, got them thanks. I was fixating on first letters and getting nowhere.

I found this very difficult and have only just finished it. I had only 3 acrosses to get when I finally worked out the theme. I also got stuck on 14A as I couldn't get the word "stocious" out of my head. It's an Ulster-Scots word for being very, very drunk.

Just one unsolved ... or unparsed if the definition is very loose: 22d.

I have 3 crossers, and I gatger that it starts with a US state, which offers 4 options; for one I can find 4th and 6th letters to make a word which could just about be stretched to means "heads off", but I can't parse it.

Thanks, chrise: I'm even more confused. If the defn is "heads off", I have a good word to fit the 3 crossers, but can't make any sense of the wordplay!
