Thanks Geeker, I had correct solution from pointer and goes ,just a bit slow working out significance of Spooner’s.

1d was my favourite clue, in fact, for the misdirection towards "Hatter"!

Came here wanting to ask the same as chrise re. 18a, so thanks for that.
I am stuck on 26down: T * H * ... can't see anything that fits, are my crosssers wrong?
And I have an answer for 12a that sort of fits half the wordplay and likewise half a def: a word that equates to I'm very pleased, but I don't think there's a thematic connection I can see. Nudges welcome, as ever!

26d I worked out from the instructions, but didn't believe it; Google showed that it was right!
12a I think you must have wrong - it's much easier than you seem to be making it. It's thematic (and a particular hate of mine).

26d good lord. We live & learn. I was trying to anagrammise 'the G' for some reason. Unsurprisingly, without success. Alll over now, praise be.

Chrise. 1d would have been my 2nd COD. Nicely worked.

Still a few, even coming back 4th and 5th time I can't parse. I get the hints for 14a mentioned earlier but still can't parse it. Purely got it from the first word. Any other non-spoiling help much appreciated.
