It refers to 10ac. I needed the crossers. It’s quite enigmatic.

Slow going today. I think I have I have spotted the theme but my knowledge of the subject is sketchy. If I have 23a correct then I do not see how it fits the theme, any hints?

Nice puzzle with a fun theme but can anyone parse 14ac and 16ac for me. The answers and synonyms are clear in both but I don't get the wordplay.

16 - try googling the solution (assuming you have it) together with the first word. I was surprised.

I think I understand now. Found the word buried among 3209 synonyms for 10ac in Wordhippo. Enigmatic indeed.
