The 7d “drinks slowly” I remember as a verb. Someone in a pub who wanted to make a drink last all night would be said to be “——ing his pint”. Must have gone out of fashion.
Yes, oddly enough I saw the first definition in 7d immediately - I had to rack what's left of my brains to work out the "harbours" bit. And whilst a few have mentioned NE quadrant as the hardest, it's the only one I have finished so far! And never begin a sentence with a conjunction 🙂
I agree, a little chewier than some, 8d took a while until the penny dropped and I’m still not convinced by 14d but I’m thinking of what the Borrowers called the Big People
Hi all. I found quite a few clues were write ins, but am now stuck on the final six.
Enjoyable overall.
Hints welcome for 12 & 15A, and 2, 8, 11 & 14D.
(And I can't fully parse 18D).
Liked 25.
Thanks
double definition. the first one isn't my understanding of the word, but there is probably some justication somewhere.
the second refers to a card game
Well if I have it correctly geeker, 11 is a card game where you can go bust and also a piece of kit used mainly by military engineers (although I though the word referred to a thing that can support a loading area, bridge etc. rather than the loading area itself).
