Half an hour and three read throughs, and I have but a single clue. Not only failed to get on Pauls wavelength today, but aren't even in the same galaxy. I think I need to come back to this later.

I have solved two of the 5/9 clues I think, but have no idea what is going on. This week I am in Melbourne which is a fabulous city but missed the opportunity to get going on this before we left the house. I'm giving it a bit of a go now but may have to return later this evening.

I’m reminded of a brilliantly constructed puzzle by Brendan from earlier this year (no. 29,041 if you want to look it up, well worth it, but spoiler alert if you’ve yet to finish this one!)

OK, pdm just happened. An odd theme really but should be more straightforward now.

I've got to say, I thoroughly enjoyed this, even though I hadn't heard of half of the 5/9s.

After the response to my post last week about a possible ambiguity I hesitate to mention this but, in 9a, it's not clear if "for the auditor" is referring to "take" or "5/9" and, to complicate the matter, the 'ambiguous' letter is unchecked.

25a - the 5/9 is clear but I just cannot see the wordplay?

Thanks to Paul for a good workout:-)

just 2 in after 10 minutes. i'm not going to bother with any more. one of my least favourite compilers anyway.

does anyone know when to expect the annotated solution on the guardian site from two weeks ago? it's not there yet. i'm curious what it will say about HAVEN.

Hi Brendan, I had similar thoughts about 9.
For 25 insert single letter ‘time’ into the first three letters for what you might do with a theme item (?), then the usual two letters for ‘on’.

I know this is a big ask, but can anyone give a clue about what 5/9 refers to without it being a spoiler? I have 5d and crossers have given me a homophone of "take" for 9a and I cannot see any connection between these words, nor can I see how 5/9 relates to 9a in terms of a date or a fraction... Any help gratefully received!
