Took me a while to tumble to what was going on here, but a very satisfying solve, if you like Paul’s style (as I do).

Saw the theme fairly quickly. Found the puzzle somewhat tedious for Paul, who I generally enjoy, but there were enough nifty clues to provide good entertainment.
Still one clue (7) short of finishing, not clear whether it's a matter of wordplay or an unfamiliar solution word.
Thanks to Paul, though.

I found it anything but tedious, geeker, but vive la différence! After all, I enjoyed Maskarade’s effort last week but quickly discovered that I was in a minuscule minority.
Re 7 - unfamiliar solution word, I think!

(The note is musical rather than abbreviational (sic))

Thanks, rogissimo. I had assumed that musical usage.
Turned out to be a word I'd seen (more than once, though never in crosswords) and forgotten, took some Googling to track it down. It's a nice word.

I am flummoxed. I have 5 and I have most of the 5/9s. But 9 eludes me - I have two possible answers, one of which satisfies the first half of the clue the other the second, but neither both!

Having now solved 7 only one of these words fits but I remain confused

I thought 9 was a double definition. Homophone ("take, for the auditor"), plus "5/9 of this?".

I should add "5/9 of this?" in a different sense from the rest of the thematics.

Geeker you have made me realise what a dumdum I have been! 5/9 should be understood throughout in the same way. The slash should have alerted me
