It’s a misprint clue, but not the fourth word. One of the large number of Chambers definitions of house is useful.

I've filled the grid apart from two entries: the second word in row 1 and the first word in row 7. They both seem to be thematic but I just can't get my head round the two remaining clues. Any cryptic hints - where the defn lies in the clue, perhaps - without giving away which clues they are would be very wecome.

...and seven letter entry in row seven now resolved!
Just need to fathom what on earth goes in the result box - too many letters to shuffle...

Many thanks HW7 I've now found the misprint where it makes more sense. That Chambers' word starts in the right area of the alphabet but it's giving me clashes.

Jif73, perhaps a re-read of the preamble may be of benefit.

Thanks, useby. It did seem a tad excessive. I'll take another look at the preamble tomorrow.

All done and dusted – a 100% record for 2023 so far!
My problem was that I construed the second word of the instruction to refer to the misprinted letters in certain clues... Thanks for guidance received above.
Hats off to KevGar for a beautifully constructed puzzle. For an unnumbered grid, it was fairly straightforward to begin the fill.
