Pretty easy this, with a list of former counties of the UK.

16A was pretty obscure though, and a silly clue IMHO - last one in.

Can't fully parse 3D.

I see parsing of 6D is on first page. I usually spell the note differently.

Agree it was fairly easy. More like a Monday crossword and several clues a write in. Obviously much harder for overseas solvers.

Nice enough crossword but not for Saturday challenge.

...and you would be right, as originally formulated. I have seen it suggested that this spelling is used for the flattened form.

My favourite compiler, I love the bank holiday specials but have to agree too easy for a Guardian prize . My first visit to forum was when I finished ,usually it is for hints/clues or help with parsing. COD 14d.
