But, on reflection, maybe we should wait for Sue Gray……😉

I think I must have fallen into a trap! I have an initial entry for the un-clued light and the player (6, 6). I also have a second entry for the un-clued light, to which the bottom line is relevant. However, the player (4, 7) means that I have 23 cells in total to highlight and also the two parts are not contiguous and one of them ruins the bottom line. A hint as to where I have gone wrong would be appreciated.

Think horizontally. There’s another way of getting the 4 name that crosses the 7.

Before I move on to the endgame, can I get clarity on a few issues ...

28a - Either bar once or never? (3) - I see how it can mean "bar" (assuming it ends in T) but not the "once or never" part.

29a - Dictator’s income as stated 5p at a time (4) - My answer is a low value coin but how and which dictator?

1d - Stuffed case of scorer with score voided (7) My answer means "stuffed" as in 'full up' but, as I can't parse it, I'm not sure if it ends in an E or a Y

Brendan, there's help given for 1 D near the beginning of the thread. 'Score voided' gives you the last two letters in the answer (solving your dilemma, if you remember the usual crossword 'score').

28 The entry would mean the exact opposite of 'bar' so ... never.

29 Dictator = sounds like,.

Been enjoying the discussions for a while now so have decided to register. I like to read comments once I’ve completed - or given up!
Thought this was a really good puzzle and for me the right solution is clear - even if there is some debate over the wording.
