It would help to know which clues are thematic. Sure of 5 and 32 across and of 8,22,25,26 down. Expect 1, 12ac to be and 1D. I have 3 letters in 23d which aren’t going far yet.

Put a "D" on the end of the answer and look it up in Chambers. I now have completed the NE,SE and SW quadrants, but my NW is completely barren other than 14a. Can someone please help me understand 30a?

You’re correct with your modification granama. Not sure what you’ve got for bear/endure. You need a word for ‘to be produced’ (produce like rabbits) and remove the last letter to give the liquor.

Hopefully those using the Chambers app have discovered the ‘Dictionary Appendices’ via Help? It includes a list of the thematic items. I only discovered this feature on the app recently, having previously been using my actual BRB for the appendices. The only thing missing from the app that’d be helpful is the list of first names.

Gitto, I think you remove the E from the last word of the clue to give a three word def. the wordplay is 4 letter word for dress/clothes + the middle letters of Gilets
