I think I’m done. Tremendous puzzle. It looks like the things done in the grid would be better if Q and A were included instead of V. Anyone else see that or have I somehow gone wrong?

I’m not sure if anyone answered Quiz’s question at #10 about ascending/descending sequences - is it eg 1,2,3 or can it be 1,3,4 etc? I’ve started the puzzle again and still end up with B and e the same value, when all entries are supposed to be different. Is this where I have gone wrong? Everything was going well up to this point!

Diver, the answer to Quiz’s question is that 479 is acceptable for digits in ascending order. I did wonder whether 477 would also be acceptable, but the question didn’t arise in this puzzle.

The answers to B and e differ only in their final digits.

I agree with others that this was in many ways a brilliant construction, but I was surprised to see so many double unches. These used to be forbidden in crosswords, but occur now from time to time. I suppose the editors allow them in cases where it is very hard to find words that fit. But in numericals ??!

Grunos, I have completed the grid but not totally sure of * as I can''t get H to be a correct multiple with my total. I think I have * , can I assume if ends in 0?

I've obviously made a mistake, but can someone explain B to me?

I am reading it as o to the power x multiplied by (digit sum of o) + 1

o is a two digit number so must be minimum of 10. x is also a two digit number so must be minimum of 11 as repeats not allowed (or could be vice versa), o to the power x therefore is a massive number!

If the x is signifying multiplied by then this is inconsistent with eg E where Qu is written not Q x u.

Help!

Thanks and stay safe!
