Doesn’t the 6 letter answer of 2a start at cell 9?

If 2ac starts in cell 1 then the whole of my grid (filled apart from 3 cells) is wrong.

novice, I do have it starting in cell 9.
Perhaps someboddy else could confirm that before I tear up my grid and start again

Yes, in row 2 the 6-letter word begins in column 9 and the 4-letter word in column 5.

Just finished after 5 hours of effort. Not my favourite type of clue, but the puzzle came together quite quickly at the end, thanks to a couple of hints on the forum. Endgame was excellent.

Sincere apologies, I was looking at row 3. Sorry for the panic!

My thanks to everyone, I am now in with a shout of finishing this when I thought it was a complete non-starter. I'm not sure I'll get the endgame but who knows.
