My mental wrestling definitely offers no risks - and my family know the need for maintaining an extremely safe distance if I'm dealing with a tough puzzle!

The BBC website is reporting that a "loss of smell" is now a syptom of coronavirus.

It reminds me of the story of the man who kept a pig in his bedroom. His friend asked him
"What about the smell?"

"He was a pig in a million - he didn't seem to mind"

That's a good one. It reminds me of the old one about a man who bought a dog with no nose. His friend asked "How does he smell?"

"B***** awful"

Glad you enforce strict distancing indoors as well as outside.

Here's a nice crossword - orientated joke.

( This might be well-known, but I'll chuck it in just in case it's not )

Sit with a newspaper folded to the crossword bit in front of a fellow enthusiast and stare into the middle distance with a frown. Sooner or later he / she will ask what you're puzzling over. As though reading from the paper, you quote : " Overburdened postman " and carry on frowning. Nine times out of ten the other person will ask how many letters, enabling you to deliver the punchline : " Hundreds "

Thanks for the jokes, folks. MalcolmXword's was my favourite, the others were … slightly on the old side.

Perhaps you missed my pedants' point - you lose your sense of smell, not necessarily your smell!

I read in the Times that the apostrophe in Betty's tea-shop was lost about 50 years ago. Have you seen it?
