Just got 147.
if I interpret the instructions correctly i.e. the definition is the solution derived by solving the rest of the clue and then adding the first letter.
Doing this, I have got 3 answers. The next part is putting the words in the right part of the grid. Hmmmm. Any thoughts ,anyone??

Yes, I'd say that's correct.

"Any thoughts?" ...... yes, I think it looks pretty tricky. I've had 3 passes through the clues and only managed one answer so far. But, I'll be sticking with it.

Once you get the 10 letter words, quite a few slot in nicely.

I agree - does look tricky - had a quick scan through for any easy ones, didn't find any!
Then got one of the 15 letter ones - confirms that first letter is not in wordplay of clue although the definition part refers to whole answer.
My 15 letter one begins with 'H' if it helps - don't yet know which of the two it fits.

Was motoring along......about 2/3 completed......but hit the wall now. NE and SW looking a bit sparse. Have got one of the 4s but getting the other and placing them both in the grid might help me get started again. Please don't post answers to them (yet)! May be time for a break and come back later?

I'm enjoying this one though.

I've finished but there are 3 that I can't fully parse.

A - I can see the definition but not sure of the wordplay
M - I can see the wordplay but not how the solution matches the definition
R - ditto

Any hints on these (but not to spoil it for others) would be good please.

A - blue refers to a political party
M - entry for M in Chambers should make it clear
R - still unsure, my best guess is it relates to a type of railway and an archaic word for the L part

Should have said...

R - still unsure, my best guess is it relates to a type of railway and an archaic word for the first part
