Hello, Pigale!
I like your tale of (and a quarter!)
Reminds me very much of a BBC interview of the British cyclist, Emma Pooley.
Emma is not the tallest, and the interviewer mentioned Emma being 5ft 2ins. "And a half !", Emma quickly insisted!
Was funny!

Good afternoon, Rusty!
I've had a lovely day out - if a trifle hectic attempting to fit in all that needed to be done!
We have just come home from visiting the cat. He was delighted to see us!
(We fed the fish, too, but they didn't show the same appreciation!)
Welling is just into Kent.
Like us, our daughter lives on the borders of London and Kent - except that she lives further to the east than we do.
Her actual area is called Falconwood - I doubt that you will have heard of it?
I was amused reading about people's heights......I am guilty of exactly the same thing....... I am 5 ft 4inches...and a half!
That half inch is extremely important!
How has your day been ?
Has the cycling gone well?
Did you watch any golf?

Hi Rusty,

Good day both for Chris Froome and Peter Sagan - a very intelligent stage by Froome who gains a few more seconds on the GC.

I have just heard the confirmation that tomorrow's race will be shorter than planned and the arrival will be at Chalet Reynard (1435m), and not at the top of the Ventoux (1912m) - this because of dangerous conditions for the riders; wind even stronger than today and at the top of the Ventoux, that's no joke.
Shame in a way, but safety first.

Good afternoon, Elle!
I am really, really, glad, the cat and you see eye to eye.
I like the name Falconwood (not heard of it before).
It sounds countryish. Are there falcons?
Speaking of falcons, have you heard that a group of flamingos is known as a "flamboyance". I did not, and I can not see it in Chambers.
I may have a hunt through other books later.
Yes, the half inch is vitally important, as Emma Pooley made very clear to her interviewer!
Le Tour was very good today.
Winds playing havoc with the peloton.
There was a great (unplanned) break with Peter Sagan and Chris Froome which went away and stayed away and confounded the sprinters.
Sagan won, and Froome gained a few more seconds on the GC.
So, Teams Tinkoff and Sky will be happy tonight.
Golf practice was/is very good.
Great coverage from Sky.
I am up early the morra (tomorrow), first group tee off at 6.35!

Hello, Pigale!
Yes, a great move by Sagan and Froome.
I really enjoyed the stage today.
Sagan is a favourite of mine.
I had not heard that about Mont Ventoux?
I know it is a very lunar landscape up there.
Well, that will be Quintana's plans up in the air.
He has said for ages that he would attack Froome on the Ventoux.
Pigale, you are right, a great shame, but if it is dangerous, no!

Ho ho elle, regarding thefish and their ingratitude!

Wendy Cope wrote a lovely poem about goldfish-

"They answer to their names.
Go out and sprinkle
Just a pinch of fish food
As you call to them
And see them rising from the muddy depths
To greet you.

They do not discuss interest rates
Or debate the ordination of women"

Hi, Rusty!
We have had a little rain but it is a lovely evening now.
BB phoned to tell me about his holiday at the seaside! He has been making "sand sculptures" so he says!!
It sounds far more exotic than the 'sandcastles and pies' that we used to make!
and the moats dug around the outside for the seawater to run into.......and the flags we would put on top of the castle......
This could be an analogy on life!
The simple and the tortuous.......
Yes, surprisingly I do know the expression "a flamboyance of flamingoes" but I have no idea where I got it from!
It isn't in my Chambers nor my version of Brewers?
There are some unusual collective nouns........ a few of my favourites are: a murder of crows; a prickle of hedgehogs; and a parliament of owls!
I'm glad the cycling went well...although the intricacies continue to escape me!
More Athletics next week and also the Davis Cup from Friday.

Hello, Ros!
"He who contemplates the goldfish will grow wiser than a frog".
