Hello, Pigale!
Yes, he was in a lot of pain.
Trek is a far better team than Tinkoff.
He should be fine there.
The big day is on Thursday, Pigale. Mont Ventoux!

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, I have watched the Youtube recordings of the fledglings' first flights.
It is quite something to watch them suddenly have the confidence and the aplomb to take off!
I just looked in on the nest - one minute all three were there and then suddenly one of the females took off yet again.
They are beginning to become quite accomplished at it!
However could Contador continue to cycle with three leg fractures?
Is the man mad?
It is such a different attitude to what you get in Athletics, where the competitor will withdraw immediately to lessen aggravation to an injury, that would possibly put them out of action for even longer were they to continue to perform.
I think cyclists must come from another planet!

Hello, Elle!
Yes, they are coming on fine.
Be a few weeks yet before they start the journey to Africa.
Hope they all make it!
Yes, most cyclists are quite mad.
Contador is a tough cookie.
Cancellara rode with broken bones in his back during one stage last year.
If you crash and get hurt, you are patched up swiftly and put back on the bike. That's the way the sport is.
And in the Tour, for a rider to reach Paris is a great achievement.
Something to be proud of.
Right, back to reading the Treaty of Utrecht.

I heard about a young girl who fell over on her way to a ballet exam. The examiner said she had passed "but I think you should go to A&E because I think you've fractured your arm".
Perhaps it's like whoever it was who hadn't noticed his leg was missing in battle until it was pointed out-somehow the adrenaline keeps you going.
Someone once pumped my fractured arm up and down to show me it was OK, causing the bones to slip over each other and a long hospital stay, to say nothing of 3 attempts to fix it (no pins in those days).
It anyone sees bees on the ground around now, they are starving because of the shortage of nectar every July. If you feel like it you could put some strong sugar solution on a teaspoon and feed them r just put some drops on wood near where the bee/s are

Hey, Rusty!
Cycle racing is a strange sport! there is a mentality involved that I will never understand!
I commend their "grit" but not their commonsense!
Why - and where - are you reading about the Treaty of Utrecht?
Is this in one of the new books that you recently bought?
I don't know much about it?
I know it's a series of peace treaties - and to do with the Spanish War of Succession, I think?
Someone couldn't produce an heir?
Four birds in the nest now...must be bedtime!

Hi, Ros, that is fascinating about reviving bees by offering them a sugar solution!
Unfortunately, I have seen several bees lying on the ground looking nearly deceased, but this was in the park, with no such remedy to hand!
Are you saying that this a general problem with bees ?

Good morning, Elle!
Lovely day here!
I was but teasing about the Treaty of Utrecht!
My reading material is not as heavy as that!
Though I think you are correct about the War of Succession.
Four birds in the nest now, and a fine fat fish.
Yes, cycling is a strange sport to many folk.
A day for the sprinters in the Tour I think.
I hope to see most of it.
There is a lot of golf on TV too.
Practising for the Open which starts tomorrow.
I am hoping for a bit of a wind blowing!

elle- yes, it happens almost every year when the spring/early summer flowers (blossoms! not rivers) are over. I haven't seen even one honey bee in my garden this year, not even on the lavender (in full flower now) and buddleia. No butterflies since the brimstone, either. We are In Trouble!
rusty- only light breezes today, more on Saturday, apparently. Why are you hoping for some wind? Makes it better to watch?
I drove round and round Troon once looking for the right church to attend a wedding . Didn't find it in time and not impressed by the town!

Good morning, Rosalind.
A wind makes the course a bit harder to play.
The test paper becomes a bit more difficult and should bring forth a true champion.
That is my theory, anyway.
The Sky TV coverage so far, has been good.
I liked the interview yesterday with Tony Finau who comes across as a very likeable man.
There was an interesting story about him recently.
He was playing in a tournament and hit a stray shot which unfortunately hit a young lady on the head.
She had to go to hospital for stitches etc.
Normally when a person is injured by a player, the player would give them a memento. A golf glove, or something like that. Not Tony Finau.
He found out where she lived and turned up on her doorstep bearing chocolates, fruit, and champagne.
The young lady was delighted and now Tony has a fan for life!

Hello, Rosalind!
Sorry, there was no champagne.
I thought there was, but just re-read the article and it was flowers, fruit, chocolate and a get well card,
And he stayed for a while having a chat with her family.
He tees off at 11.47 tomorrow, so you can plan a strategy for waylaying his golf ball!
He is 6ft 4in so he is easy to spot!
