Elle, Rusty - Pearly as a noun seems to be in the Collins dictionary.

The pearly kings and queens are known as "pearlies" (source : Chambers)

Pearly (noun singular) found on an online dictionary :
a London costermonger who wears on ceremonial occasions a traditional dress of dark clothes covered with pearl buttons

I suppose it could well be a noun in the same way Chinese is a noun for a meal nowadays?
Maybe Pearly is used as a noun in the Cockney communities, but the rest of us won't come across them?

As I said to Malone, I think Pearly could well have become a noun.
I wonder is there such a thing as a Cockney Dictionary?
Or do they say pearlies for teeth or something?

"Pearly" isn' t in my edition, and" Pearlies" gives a different definition.

Sorry, Elle - maybe you have an old or very new edition of Chambers? 'Pearly' is in the 12th edition.
