Hello, Rosalind.
I like your final quote.
Much more elegant than my "who tests the testers"!

Hello, Elle,
It was fairly recently that Femke was found out, so she has a good while to go.
Now, on a more positive note, Rachel Atherton of Salisbury has just won the Downhill Mountain Bike World Cup at Fort William for the NINTH successive year!
I am very pleased for her!

Hi, Rusty!
Well, that is some positive good news to hear! Well done, Rachel!
I was beginning to feel very depressed - as I do each time we discuss the problem of sport and drugs!
It has been a scorching afternoon! Much too hot out for me! I feel very ungrateful to be complaining about the heat - I should be thankful after our recent cold spell, but hot weather and I do not get on very well!!
Fortunately for the dog, she is going to the groomers tomorrow morning for both a bath and a trim.
She has a very shaggy coat, so I have for once timed this event extremely well!
Did you get out for your walk? how far did you venture?

Elle, that is the trouble with a sudden change in the weather - We have gained no less than 10 degrees in barely 36 hours !

Strike actions are preventing some British friends to travel down from Paris tomorrow ! There were no trains today and they wait until 5pm to let you know what the situation is going to be for the next day!

It might all continue until the end of the week unless Holland decides to do something (for once ! ) - Not good on the eve of the Football European Cup !

Hello, Pigale!
Yes, I think that is the most likely explanation - the sudden change in the temperature!
I don't usually flag so quickly and us only in the mid-twenties!
No time to adjust!
I am sorry to hear that your friends are prevented from coming to see you.
How disappointing for you. Are they tied to a schedule or can they come at a later stage?

Hi again Elle,

They have not decided to drive (from Luxembourg) - which for some reason they did not want to do - (I think one of the car is having a technical problem, so one car less is not so practical in their case, with all the family. So anyhow I will still see them, together with the brother who lives in Jersey!
That will keep me busy for two or three days !

Good evening, Elle!
Your weather is a few degrees warmer than mine.
I am not fond of heat, too.
It was just grand for walking in.
Yes, pleased for Rachel.
She must be a real dare devil.
Downhill mountain biking is not for the faint of heart!
Wonder if it is an Olympic event?
More tennis for you next week.
Queens is on TV.
How are you and ITV4 getting on now?

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, a few degrees cooler would have suited me better, although probably, with a little acclimatisation, I might manage the heat better!
The sudden temperature rise has been such a shock to the system!
At least my early morning dog walk is in cooler conditions - it's a more manageable (and enjoyable) temperature at that time in the morning!
There was a question you might have liked on Eggheads tonight......especially as you have become so genned up on the London Tube!
"Who designed the London Underground Maps?"
Not only did you actually buy one........but you watched that programme about building the Tube - and I well remember the maps being shown and discussed!
(There was a controversy about a later map being attributed falsely to someone else)
Btw, did you watch that more recent programme about the Underground that you were talking about the other day?
Still no signal on ITV4 - I'm beginning to think that we must never have had service on that channel.

Hello, Elle!
No, I did not record the programme.
I have 5 or 6 progs already recorded and that will keep me going for a while. One is about the Somme. Think the rest are from Irish TV channel and Sky Arts.
I remember the Underground map prog, but the designer escapes me.
We have a thunderstorm warning for tomorrow.
We "may" get it.
The tennis is on BBC and Eurosport next week.
I forgot to watch the cycling today.
There is a big race going on in France just now.

Hi, Rusty!
We likewise have thunderstorms now being forecast for tomorrow - and possibly for the remainder of the week! Maybe!
The beautiful weather isn't lasting long by all accounts.
Younger daughter has texted to see if we would like to go to Surrey Quays Farm on Friday with her and BB and baby.
It would be lovely - provided a thunderstorm doesn't make its presence felt!
I shall suggest that she has a Plan B - preferably indoors! - in case of stormy weather!!
Of course, I had forgotten that Queens would soon be upon us.........and after that, Wimbledon!
And soon the Olympics........
I shall have to curb my social whirl........!
Prioritise will be the name of the game!
(P. S. Harry Beck designed the Tube map).
