Good afternoon, Elle!
Still dry here, though a tad cloudy!
Miss Firova is a "belter", as we would say up here!
Shows how many folk have completely different mindsets from the rest of us.
I am convinced the Russians will be at Rio.
There will be a "fudging" solution from the powers that be in the Olympic movement.
Laura Robson has had a wrist problem for some time.
She says she is pain free now.
I think she needs a "wild card" to get into Wimbledon.
She is playing singles and doubles at Queens.
Oh, just had a wee shower!
The forerunner of the thunderstorm?!!!

Good evening, Rusty!
We had our thunderstorm - with a vengeance - earlier this afternoon!
We were in the car on our way back from collecting the dog from the groomers when the Heavens opened! The thunder and lightning were horrendous!
It continued for about two hours and although the sun is out now, we are still getting intermittent showers.
Did your thunderstorm "develop" from that shower that you had?
Didn't Laura Robson need a wild card to play in Wimbledon last year, too?
I am not sure how this works?
A player presumably has to apply for a wild card if they are not up to the required standard for acceptance?
But how does it then progress? What are the necessary criteria for selection for a wild card?
I do hope she is able to play.
I think Heather Watson and Naomi Broady will be playing at Wimbledon?

Good evening, Elle!
No such luck up here.
Just a downpour for twenty minutes.
No lightning. A fine evening now.
I believe both Robson and Broady got knocked out in the first round at Nottingham today.
I do not know how the wild card works, but I would suspect favouritism will play a large part in it.
I shall look forward to seeing Heather Watson and Miss Konta.
Lassie's chicks are getting big!
Laddie is a good provider!

"Wild cards are usually offered on the basis of past performance at Wimbledon, or to increase British interest." Wikipedia.

Hi, Rusty!
Thank you for finding out that piece of information........
".......to increase British interest" should surely ensure that Laura will be awarded one?
Just out of interest, did you realise that when Goran Ivanisovic won the Men's Singles title at Wimbledon in 2001, he did so as a Wild Card entrant ?
The only man to have done so.
I was actually there at Wimbledon on that occasion, watching him and Pat Rafter play the Final on a "People's Monday"!
It was a great occasion!
Raining again now.......it keeps coming and going.......

Hello, Elle!
Yes, I knew about Ivanisevic.
Heather Watson got knocked out of the Nottingham tournament in the first round, too!
I'll have a look to see if it is on Eurosport tomorrow, but I suspect it is a German tournament, and fencing, and cycling..
I hope Laura gets a wild card, and a good court, at Wimbledon.
We have a bit of a drizzle but have missed out on anything more dramatic.
How are you and rain getting on>

Hi, Rusty!
It is no longer raining......and I have just taken a look at the BBC weather forecast for our area, and it is looking a lot better then it did earlier.
We are no longer being forecast thunderstorms for the next few days - but can even expect some sunshine for tomorrow!
How are you doing in the thunderstorm stakes?
I hadn't realised that there was a Nottingham tennis tournament?
I know we have Eastbourne (for the Ladies) and Queens coming up......I hope it is all being televised on a channel that I can access!
We bought a new high - powered (indoor) aerial today - but still no ITV4!
Maybe no -one gets it in our area? I shall take a survey in the park tomorrow!

Hello, Elle!
The Aegon tournament is on at Nottingham and the Mercedes tournament is on in Stuttgart.
Not on ITV4, but on Eurosport.
I have no idea of Freeview.
Never used it.
I suspect you may have to tune it in though?
Someone you meet in the park may know how to reset it?
No rain here.
Wonder what tomorrow may bring!

Good morning, Eirlys.
That is a good site you posted.
Tells me I can get ITV4!
Good morning, Elle,
If you type, "Freeview Tuning" into your search box, there is lots of helpful info there.
Seems very simple to do.
A dry morning here.
Fine weather for my trip to my dental check up!
