I did not dander far today.
A cold North wind blowing.
Willie has been fined for the late withdrawal of Vroum Vroum Mag.
Firstly, Willie trains Mag, he does not own her.
When it became obvious that he could not overtake Paul, the owners decided there was much more prize money and prestige at Punchestown, and withdrew her.
She will run at Punchestown, now.
They had kindly agreed to help Willie by running her today at Sandown, but by the time her race came round, Paul Nicholls was already champion. Hope that explains it.
I do not really agree with it, but that is what happened.

And it seems fair that there should be a penalty for so doing.
But, in reality, who should pay the fine?
Isn't it the owners who actually withdrew the horse?
So shouldn't they be the ones to pay up?

It is trainers who enter and declare horses to run, so Willie should be fined.
The owner, Rich Ricci, is extremely wealthy, so he may reimburse Willie.
I agree with the fine.
There would be those who went to Sandown especially to see Mag. She is a potential "great" horse.
I'll see BGT tomorrow.
I have saw enough TV for one day and still have my paper to read!

Yes, I agree with you about the fine - well deserved as race-goers will be disappointed.
But it feels right that the owners should reimburse Willie if it was at their instigation that VVM was withdrawn.

I am watching the London Marathon!
(on the television though, not en route!)
The Elite women have just passed the Cutty Sark! whereas the wheelchair athletes have gone across Tower Bridge!
If you are watching, you will know that the rain has now stopped and the temperature is about 7C - so ideal marathon conditions!
The dog will have to wait for her walk!
