Good morning, Rusty!
A beautiful day here! Only 2C though at the time I took the dog for her walk.
You were out early getting your paper!
I have been on holiday to Falmouth - it is a lovely place - great sandy beaches!
Were all the paintings "land"scapes ? or were there some "sea"scapes, too?
Using "manure" would seem to be a rather smelly procedure?!
I haven't heard of that before!
I watched a process the other day where the artist used sheep wool to create her pictures. She dyed the wool the various required colours , and then pulled it out thinly and pressed it down in the requisite shapes with the palms of her hands, onto her paper.
She had several scenes hung on her walls - but I think she usually sold her products!
I hope all goes well with the nurse.......don't forget to take your BP monitor with you!
We have a vet appointment at 11am - the dog is going for her anal glands check.
Plus I want the vet to look at her (the dog's!) feet and legs...she is still limping occasionally and I can find nothing amiss.
Maybe a muscle strain?

Re your crossword clue......I spent a bit of time trying to think of an East London river!
I hopefully have the answer now though!
Somewhere in NE England? near Grimsby ?

Malone, I didn't have a problem with "some might say"? I just took it as a homophone indicator?
(I didn't have a problem with the "similar sound" either, for a change !)

Was there any explanation why the guy using manure wore a wet-suit for the duration?

Thanks, Elle . I think my literal way of thinking obstructs me at times! I just thought 'say' on its own worked- whereas 'some might say' triggered the thought that others, ie not 'some', wouldn't say...

Hello, Elle!
Snow blowing through now!
I only had a quick peek at the landscape show.
I think the winner gets to paint Flatford Mill, if I picked that up correctly. Is that near the River Fal?
Will try it later to see if it is to my taste.
Yes, I have my monitor ready for my nurse!

Hi Rusty
Flatford Mill is on the Essex/Suffolk border (not sure which side).

Did you see the man painting in the wet-suit?

Hello, Chris!
No, just had a quick peek!
Not sure if it is my kind of thing but will have a proper look later.
It is something different, anyway!

Good afternoon, Rusty!
Flatford Mill is in Suffolk, near to East Bergholt.
John Constable (he of, especially, "The Haywain", fame ) painted many scenes of Flatford Mill.
His largest canvas to be painted outdoors is called "Scene on a Navigable River" and can be viewed at the Tate Gallery.
I've been there may times!
The vet visit went well. The dog's anal glands are still clear of infection and no longer inflamed.
The glands were expressed and she does not have to go back next time for three months.
The vet couldn't find anything specifically wrong with her limbs or feet, but thinks she might have pulled a muscle (as I thought) in possibly her right shoulder.
The treatment is "leave it alone"!
Now............how did you get on with your practice nurse?
How was your BP, and have you lost any more weight?
Has she now calibrated your BP monitor to match that of the surgery?

Hello, Elle!
Good news about doggie!
I will watch "landscape" later.
Punchestown starts today, so I will have a look at that.
There is a very good article in Guardian today by Nicole Cooke, Olympic and World cycling champion.
She attacks British Cycling, and also said regarding Jess Varnish, "I have my own experience of Shane and I sympathise with Jess."
Victoria Pendleton said "I know exactly how miserable they made me."
Lizzie has came out in sympathy with Jess, too.
So, well said, girls!
Jo Rowsell is supporting British Cycling, though she says Shane Sutton has never been her coach, but she sees him at the track "shouting orders at everyone!"
My monitor is fine, but BP a bit high sometimes.
Nurse suggest a chat with GP would be a good idea!

Malone, I agree with you regarding the "shrewish" clue.
A bit odd.
And 7 down is simply dreadful!

Hi, Rusty!
Ah yes, I remember your saying that Vroum Vroum Mag was going to run at Punchestown.
Are you placing any bets on any particular horse?
So what does the nurse want you to chat to the GP about ? Are you already taking any medication for your blood pressure? or is this what she wants you to discuss?
My husband takes a lot of meds for his BP, and I find it a very worrying aspect......probably because I personally have a resistance to taking any medicines.
I'm fortunate that I don't actually have to do so , because I'm not sure what I would decide to do, if I did!
The only tablets I am prepared to take are my migraine meds....and I only need these sporadically, so I'm not committing myself to a permanent ingestion of medication.
Mind you, I'm not saying here that anyone shouldn't take his/ her recommended medication.........just that I probably wouldn't!
Ok, getting down from my hobby horse now.......

Two more clues for you .......from today's Times QC
