Good day to you, Elle!
Bit cloudy and cold here.
The tree cutters will soon get rid of the downed trees.
Sam W-C? I like that!
No, it does not sound quite the thing to do.
There was a young jockey booked to ride and now he won't.
Yes, the phrase is "jocked off".
Lester Piggott did it a lot.
Mind you, Elle, something similar happened with Queen Vic and Pacha de Poulder.
I have been out for my paper, and I needed light bulbs, or is it lightbulbs? Anyway, my daughter-in-law had previously suggested I would like a store called Home Bargains, so I went there and purchased 4 for 99 pence, which is way cheaper than ASDA.
My word to explore today is "strapping", when I get a minute.
As in "a big strapping man".
Wonder why "strapping"?
Time for a coffee!

Hi, Rusty!
Oh dear! now I don't want to spoil your pleasure in having bought cheap light bulbs......but a word of warning....!
Do you remember when we had an electrical problem recently and had to bring in a sparky?
We were having light bulbs exploding .......
We thought that we had a major wiring problem (or some such) but the electrician said that it was all due to our having bought "cheap" light bulbs!!
He said that this was becoming an increasing problem with people buying inferior bulbs from places such as supermarkets (which of course, was exactly what we had done!)
Luckily, we had uplighter shades, and so most of the exploded glass remained contained within the lampshade, but had we had the other type of shade, then the glass would have fallen sprayed out downwards onto the floor.
Dangerous!
Especially were there young children or pets about .
The sparky duly replaced our bulbs for ones of better quality and we haven't had this phenomenon happen since.
I just thought I should warn you!!
"Strapping"? I know it means big and sturdy, robust.
But I have no idea of its origin?
Coffee sounds a great idea!

Hello, Elle!
Just saw Judy Murray at Aintree.
This is Ladies Day!
That is interesting about the light bulbs.
I have replaced one of mine and so far so good!
I texted my daughter-in-law and she gets light bulbs there and has had no problems.
Paddy P has refunded my "Nina" money, so looks like she won't get in.
So, I have put it on sister-in-law, Katie Walsh, who is aboard one of Willie (walks on water) Mullins runners, Ballycasey.
I can find nothing helpful about "strapping".
i think when the grooms rub down horses it is called "strapping".
May further investigate later today.

Hi, Rusty!
A lovely afternoon!
We haven't taken the dog out for another walk - taking it easy with her leg - well, we are, she isn't!
She is still charging around as usual!
Instead, she has been out in the garden with us - we are beginning to do some "tidying"!
I hope your light bulbs will be okay - I think there have been several bad batches on the market - hopefully, yours will be fine!
It was very disconcerting though to have explosions of glass!
I don't really understand about Nina? - if her horse is number 42, would she not be one of the "reserves" that you mentioned?
Still, you can support Katie instead!
How is the golf - and Rickie - going?
The osprey nest was empty when I looked earlier.

Helli, Elle!
All 40 runners stood their ground at the overnight declarations, so Nina does not get in. No reserves needed. Her only hope is if there is an injured jockey who can not ride, she may get the mount.
I have just switched the Sky red button on for the golf.
It is early yet.
Not sure when Rickie is teeing off, but Bubba Watson is in a grumpy mood, and Ian Poulter is very colourfully garbed!
I will check up on the nest after tea.

Hi, Rusty!
I have just been reading the osprey blog.......apparently yesterday the birds had live toads for their meal!
One each! Lassie devoured hers as it was hopping around the nest.
Later she flew off and was seen to be regurgitating it!
She obviously didn't like the flavour!
And I am just about to have dinner........!

Good evening, Elle!
I would not thank anyone for a toad to eat, either!
Plenty trouts in the loch!
I was expecting an egg by now.
My light bulb is still intact!
