'm a Northerner and I've never heard of the word "clarty" until today!
I must have led a sheltered life!

And "cute" meaning "ankle" is also a new one to me!

Hello, Elle!
Well, if it was not for Anne Bradford I would not know "cute".
Clarty is well used up here.
But not nearly so well used as "like".
Our teenagers normally have "like" several times in one sentence!

Re earlier posts, I didn't mind (too much) 'uge and Huge. There is one particularly annoying clue in today's Times Cryptic - for me it's the worst example of its kind!

11 A. London borough dismissing leader of one strike (6).

Good morning, Rusty!
A fine day at the moment, although a lot of mud at the park after heavy rain last night!
Not- so -clean dog on arrival home!
She is rubbed down and dried off now though!
Did you take the "scenic route" for your paper?
Is it today that Nina will find out whether she has a ride on Saturday?
Now why did I think that?
I am going out to lunch again today ("Ladies who....")
It isn't decided yet where we shall go........
Okay, now...... a quick coffee before I change out of dog-walking gear........
Do you have any plans for the day?

Ok, got it!
Actually, I think if you take it as it's written, and not as it's said... I don't think there is any problem with it?
Apart of course from the usual complaint of why would anyone living outside London even know of it!

It's being expected to know London boroughs that is annoying! I have spent a lot of time in the south of England and in London and I have never heard of that place. I think I was in an irritated mood as I'd already dealt with 27 Across -
Two ways across forest, and one part of way across river (8,5)

Good morning, just, Elle!
Fine day here, but clouding over a bit now.
No withdrawals, yet, from National, so not looking sunny for Nina.
I have finished my walking for the day.
Going to be engrossed in the Aintree racing and Masters golf for the rest of the day. I do not know the answers to the given clues and will not have time for the crossword today.
Pacha de Poulder runs at Aintree today, but not with Victoria.
She is not experienced enough for the Aintree fences.
Hope you enjoy your lunch with the ladies!

Good afternoon, Rusty!
Thank you. Yes, I did enjoy lunch! and the chat! It was good!
Our fine day did not last.....we have had some heavy rain and it has become very cold again!!
Brrrrh!
I thought padded jackets were no longer going to be needed - after all, I was out without coat last weekend!
I quite liked Malone's clues , but I can understand his frustration when they involve London yet again, as did the first one!
For the second, you needed to know of Epping Forest! but it was rather clever!
Mind you, clues are such an individual thing.... just look at the trouble that I had the other day, yet you thought that clue a good one and straightforward! I couldn't "get it" at all!
How is the racing at Aintree going? and the golf?
Any news of Nina and the possibility of her racing in the Grand National?
I shall now take a look at my crosswords.......
