Hello, Elle!
You have had a grand day with your daughter!
Now, I am not the brightest, so how does you buying you a new jacket for your husband to give you, work?
Would rigmarole cover it?
I have odd bits in my head too, that no one else knows.
The name of the bull that killed Manolete in the ring at Linares was Islero. There was an Italian car of the same name made by Lamborghini but I do not know if it was called after the bull or not. Probably not.
My walk was very clarty. The rain had drowned parts of the Nature Trail and it was muddy and slippy.
That will be why I met no one!
Going to look in on the nest.
Pigale seems to see all the exciting bits!

Hi, Rusty!
Ah, well, you see........before I went out, my husband told me to have a look around, whilst daughter and I were shopping, to see if there was anything I fancied for my birthday!
I bought a short black leather jacket (being out of bullock hides, I thought this might come in handy!)
I left the decision about book gift cards versus Amazon voucher to my daughter!
She can surprise me!
I didn't know that about Manolete and the bull - and the car!
Now, I don't know the word "clarty"?
That is a new one to me!
What does it mean?
Just checked in on the webcam again....only Lassie in residence - and no swans on the loch!!

Hello, Elle!
How on earth can you go through life without a bullock hide?
Dearie me, what is the world coming to?
No bullock hide? Tut, tut!
"Clarty" is dirty, up here! Filthy, in fact.
For many years I went to pub quizzes, just primed to jump in when we got a question about Manolete and the bull...
but it never came!
It seems a nice breezy evening on the loch!

Hi, Rusty!
I've never taken part in a Quiz!
I like answering the questions on Eggheads though!
And I enjoy playing Trivial Pursuit!
There is a clue from today's Times QC by Pedro, for you and Malone (if he is reading this )
6D: Shelter sports official , very large for a Cockney (6)
It seems that Mr. R never gives up!
Just seen Lassie taking off.......I wonder where she is going....?

Hello, Elle!
Lassie is back. She looks lay-ey to me?
Ref-(h)uge?
I am surprised you have never been in a quiz?
I used to compile and present them in pubs, too.
It is difficult setting a quiz, I found.
Getting the balance right between knowledge and fun.
More fun than knowledge is best.
I like Eggheads, too, but have not watched it for a while.
I used to like "Millionaire", too, then took a dislike to the presenter and stopped watching.

I'm not sure if this is the thread that we've discussed "Masterchef" before (it probably is!). I've generally watched it before, but I don't think I'll watch it again, after tonight's travesty. To start with, one chef served grilled radicchio. The chef and all five of the judges mispronounced this as - not sure how to show the difference in English - "radichio", and even spelled it on the "menu" as "radiccio", whereas in Italian it is "radickio", then they all raved about a pork dish served still bleeding in the middle - NO! Pork must be cooked through, as it can carry all sorts of parasites that find humans a great alternative.

They're all idiots!

Hi, Rusty!
Lay-ey? I think you've made that up!
It's an expressive word, though!
It will be good when Lassie does lay some eggs.
I used to like watching "Fifteen to One" too. My Scottish cousin took part in an episode of that!
I have been reading in my new TV guide about the coming series of BGT.
Apparently, among the various acts, there are to be a dancing polar bear, a one man band on stilts, and the world's fastest tortoise!
I wonder how they prove that last one???

Oh dear, Chris!
This is a programme that I have never watched, so I am afraid that I do not know very much about it operates?
But I have noticed various spelling mistakes in using foreign words on menus in restaurants, so I suppose it isn't all that surprising to find mispronunciations, too.
I myself though wouldn't have a clue as to how to pronounce the word "radicchio".
You would expect though that there would be an "expert" on hand to check out all these words before the commencement of the programme ?
I think these days that it is considered perfectly 'safe' to eat pork slightly pink in the middle, although I'd agree it shouldn't still be "bleeding"!
Mind you, having said that, I prefer my pork reasonably well-done! (altho' I eat my steak 'rare'!)
