Re Lip service

Brewers shows : insincere respect, expressed with the lips but not acted upon :
Biblical quote from Matthew 15.8 "This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips but their heart is far from me"

Hello, Elle!
My rain is hammering down!
I think I am home for the day.
No, I do not mind knowing the result before I watch.
It does not happen often.
Just that this event took place in California.
Quite a time difference!
Not investigated lip service yet.
Mind, my head has lots of similar oddities rattling around in it.
It is a bit early for me to tackle crossword.
Usually a tea time treat!

Hello, Pigale!
I could be wrong here, but the "wheel turning" on the clip could be what is known as "buffering".
Some technical wizardry if the signal is slow.
Glad it is back to normal!

Hello again, Elle!
You know quite a bit more than me about athletics and I have a query!
I am puzzled!
Mo Farah!
When he wins he does a "Mobot" sign with hands on his head.
What does that signify? What does "Mobot" mean?
I am asking because I have just watched Lydia do the very same thing on her leap into Poppie's Pond.
She put her hands on her head just like Mo.
The American commentators said she did the "I love you" sign.
Is that what Mo means, too?
Does it represent a heart?

Perhaps my explanation at post 6899 was not what was required. Good day all

Hi , Rusty!
Well, as I understand it, the Mobot sign represents the "M" for "Mo"! (and not a heart!)
It was invented by a favourite of yours, Clare Balding!!
Mo was told that he needed a move with which he could celebrate Olympic victory - and Clare came up with the Mobot!
Usain Bolt has also borrowed it!
Have you looked at the peculiar (certainly to me) clue that I put up on the general forum?
I am still not happy?
Have a look and tell me what you think of it?

Hello, Elle!
So, why would Lydia do it?
And the Yanks called it the "I love you" sign?
Supposedly looks like a heart?
A mystery!
I looked at your clue and it works very well for me, Elle.
I do not see a problem with it.
I think Chris parsed it well?

Thank you for your explanation of "lip service".
One less phrase to be pondering!

Hi, Rusty!
Take a look at this link.....
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/olympics/news/9470549/Mo-Farahs-Mobot-dance-invented-by-Clare-Balding.html

And this is the online Collins dictionary definition of "Mobot".....
"Mo Farah's victory celebration of placing his hands on his head to form the M sign after winning gold in the 10,000m at the London 2012 Olympics".

I cannot offer anything else...... this is how I have always understood the gesture came about!
Usain Bolt does the gesture, too!

Sorry, still don't like that clue......!

Good day Rusty
I wasn't sure if your question re lip service was rhetorical ! or whether you have access to Brewers. Thus my rather wordy reply :)
