Good evening, Elle!
Yes, it is warm.
There is a lot of talent coming through in athletics.
Very promising for the future.
There is always something or other happening in cycling, Elle.
That's the nature of the sport.
I saw the Jumbo-Visma crash, but did not realise what had brought them down.
I thought perhaps a touch of wheels, but they say is was a leaking hose.
Sounds a bit odd!
La Vuelta is a "grand tour", Elle, and each of the grand tours lasts for three weeks.

Good evening, Rusty!
It is a nice evening......a tad cooler now.
My husband and the dog are mowing the lawn......
(That reminds me of the song "One man went to mow..........one man and his dog went to mow a meadow"!)
I was waiting for my cousin to phone, but she has just texted that she has been held up on her way home, so will ring later in the evening.
Fortunately, I have set the recorder for Jane Austen's "Sanditon"!
The family is coming over sometime tomorrow - no details as yet - and then BB will stay for a two night sleepover.

Hello, Elle!
Yes, a fine evening.
The nights are drawing in, too.
You will be looking forward to the family visiting tomorrow!
And BB's sleepover!

Morning, Rusty. I know you don't do the Jumbo crosswords, but I liked this clue from today's Times.... (I think we shouldn't give the answer, in case solvers have still to tackle this).

16 A. Why leaves aren't green? (5,6,4,2,5)

A Very Good morning to you, Rusty!
Another lovely day here - bright blue sky and sunshine ...already 28C when we were out walking the dog at 8am!
Set to hit 32C later.
I think I am in for the rest of the day.....with the fans on!
The family is coming over this afternoon, so there is time to relax this morning, with a coffee and the crosswords.
How about you?
Any plans for your day?

Good morning, Malone!
I'm afraid I'm stumped with that one!
A pity, for I am sure it will be a good one, or you would not have posted it!

Good morning, Elle!
Fine morning here, too.
I was out earlier but home for the day, too.
I'm taking it easy, and awaiting one or two phone calls.
I finished the puzzle earlier.
One or two new words for me.
And thanks to Sissel I got 26a.
It's what her "Titanic" music is called.
A word I did not know had a meaning in music.

Hi, Rusty!
I have done all bar one clue of my puzzle....
20d: Gods had to be captured by writers (7)
P?N?T?S
What am I missing here, please?
And I am lacking a parse for 12a: She may provide a service, work on one's back ? (8)
I have "masseuse"......but am unsure of the definition?
Is it an &lit?
I can see "mass" for "service".......
I do not recall the music sung by Sissel in "Titanic" - you obviously have a very good memory!
I think you will know "suite" as regards "The Nutcracker Suite" by Tchaikovsky?
I liked 3d: pirouette; 14d; appalling; and 24d: vague
My daughter says they will arrive at 4 o'clock!

Hello, Elle!
20, was new to me, but I had the same letters as you and got,
writers are "pens", had is "ate", giving "penates", which are gods I think, but I have not checked.
Elle, I have no idea what an &lit is.
I keep things simple.
"Mass" is a service, "use" just possibly could be work, with on"e"s back.
Sissel's piece is called the "Titanic Suite".
It is on YouTube and is excellent.
Some good ones today!
