Good afternoon, Rusty!
We have had a very enjoyable outing....and the picnic was a great success...
But I think this has been by far our hottest day of late.....
We walked in the woods, where there was plenty of shade but even then the heat was unbearable.....
Roll on tomorrow when it should be cooler!
We came home, though, to a nicely cooled lounge...having left the fans on full blast whilst we were out!
I have just listened to the Johnny Cash tribute......it was wonderful...... yes, he did look a tad overwhelmed......
I'm not surprised ......it was a lovely tribute to him!
No, I didn't know Lyle Lovett!
Rosanne was lovely....
I am now going to play "Sorry" with BB....and we are having ice creams all round!

Hello, Elle!
Great stuff! You all enjoyed your day out.
Well done!
Been a fine day here but we have a weather warning for rain!
It was a fitting tribute to Johnny Cash from his fellow singers, and especially daughter Rosanne!
I thought she was super!
And I love a gospel choir!
It was very brisk, too.
I had a clip of Johnny performing with his mother-in-law, Mother Maybelle Carter.
She is excellent on the auto-harp, and the guitar, too.
You will miss BB when he goes home later....but he'll be back another day!

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, we have had a nice couple of days with our grandson!
We should have been happy for him to stay even longer...he is very good company.
His dad came to collect him, about an hour ago.
But ....one door closes and another one opens..... a friend has texted to see if I can meet her for lunch tomorrow,
That was a nice surprise!
I envy you your threat of rain!
This weather is exhausting.......

Update, Rusty!
I have just unpacked my several packages, received today through the letterbox!
Four of my five "used" books have arrived.
I am extremely pleased with them all...
i bought them from three different sources; each book described as in "very good" condition.
But they are even better than that...they all appear to be brand new!
Nary a one seems to have been opened!
Good buys!

Hello, Elle!
Well done on your books!
I have had "very good" books like that.
My Collins Dictionary seems to be brand new, though described as "very good".
I have not bought any for some time now.
Here's a nice clip of Rosanne Cash singing one of her Dad's compositions.
I think it's very catchy!

Hi, Rusty!
My Collins dictionary, bought around the same time as yours, also appears to be brand new.
I wonder if these books are surplus stock being sold off?
But then why not describe them as "new"?
Thank you.....that was a great clip!
I could not keep my feet still, whilst listening to it!
I like Rosanne.

Hello, Elle!
They are not strictly speaking "new", but unsold stock which has been remaindered.
So, legally they are not "new".
Yes, a good clip, some great musicians there.
Johnny Cash wrote some smashing songs!
Rosanne is great.
She has five sisters, you know!

Hi, Rusty!
I have not previously come across the term "remaindered"?
But why are the surplus books not "new" - they are presumably unopened and unread?
What makes it not "legal" to sell them as new?
I am not comprehending this.......

Hello, Elle!
A "remainder" is a new book that has not been sold at its set price, and then put on sale (by another vendor) at a reduced price.
Once a book has been sold, it is no longer "new", whether it has been read or not.
It is "used" as it has already been on sale, then sold on to another vendor.
In the book trade, these books are known as "remaindered".
OK ?

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, okay.......thank you for explaining!
(How do you know these things?)
I am away to my bed.....extremely hot.....fans going everywhere......wonder if I shall sleep.....
I am tired though.
G'night!
