Hello Elle and Rusty

Glad you solved the Toxteth clue - a good one. It had its moment of fame 30 years ago.

You might try these

One part of Liverpool or another getting credit for the first time (8)

or this one that appeared in the Telegraph a few years ago.

In Clubmoor a scally (6)

Hello, Jigjag, I've done the second one.....
I won't write in the answer, in case Rusty wants to have a go.....

I'm still thinking about the other one!

Hello, Elle!
Beautiful blue skies here!
It is not a terribly difficult puzzle, though there an Indian mountain that may be new to you.
I had heard of the mountain but did not realise it was in India.
At one time it was thought to be the World's highest.
So, have a go!

Hello, Jigjag,
I see a "rascal" hiding in a clue.
And the other one looks like Cr(T)oxteth.
Croxteth is new to me, but I have certainly heard of Toxteth.
I remember the riots, way back in time!

Hello Elle and Rusty

Yes well done. Scally is the local term for rascal/scallywag. When I saw it in the Telegraph, I assumed the setter was from Merseyside, using Clubmoor (a district ) and scally.

The Toxteth/Croxteth similarity leads to nice clues which I have written. The one I gave you is my favourite. Interesting that 2 districts have similar names. I dont know the history - Rosalind might.

Hi, Rusty!
Whew!
Nearly finished......
There is light at the end of the tunnel!
Well done at solving Jigjag's first clue......
Having had "Toxteth" as an answer so recently, I should have been able to see "Croxteth", shouldn't I?
I think that historically Toxteth used to be in Lancashire , before its relocation to Liverpool?
Well, I'd better clear away all my wrapping paper etc., for today..... and think about dinner.
Goodness knows what we are going to have......

Good evening, Elle!
I'm afraid I can't help you with Toxteth.
Have you finished your present wrapping now?
I had a mackerel for my tea.
I got a jigsaw at the PDSA yesterday.
It is difficult!

Good evening, Rusty!
Uhm...well...I have now wrapped all the presents that I have so far bought....
So that in itself is an achievement!
However, there are still bits and pieces that I need to get.
I have Friday earmarked for the remainder of my shopping.
It is largely "extras" that I want to get for the grandchildren.
I'm not very good at jigsaws!
I still haven't managed to finish one of a 1000 pieces that my elder daughter gave me.
The pieces are so tiny...and all look alike!
And I don't have a lot of patience for that sort of activity!

Hello, Elle!
You seem to have bought an awful lot of presents!
I am fairly patient with jigsaw puzzles.
I get them at PDSA where I get my teaspoons, and sometimes a book!
La Bamba and me are for the Pine Cone tomorrow.
Weather is meant to be reasonably mild, so that's fine!

Hi, Rusty!
Well, when one counts heads , there are quite a number of people for whom to buy them!
Some of the gifts, though, are only smaller things for the children......but I wrap them individually as half the fun is in the unwrapping !
But as I said earlier, I am thankfully near the end of it all now.
How many pieces is your jigsaw puzzle?
I think mine is a tad too ambitious for me.
I too am going out for lunch tomorrow!

Good morning, Rusty!
It is a beautiful day here...the sun is shining in a bright blue sky!
I am going out very shortly....a bit of shopping and meeting a friend for lunch.
I hope you enjoy your morning at the Pine Cone with Miss La Bamba!
