I have tethering = securing (def)
ether - organic compound
tin - container
but where does the "g" come from?
I cannot tie that in with "must be sound"?
Where am I going wrong, please?

19a was one of those when I just could not quite see what the setter meant.
My fault, I am sure!
Anyway, my guess is, "ether" is a compound (I think), and the "container" is a word surrounding "ether".
I don't know why "must" is in the clue, but I think "ting" is the "container word" and "sound".
If so, I am not overly impressed, but I may have the parse wrong.

Piage, Hale = Robust, En = measure (in printing_ and Low = blue, all leading to Halloween, movie with many cuts. Hal low e en.

Never heard of a film with cuts - I must be rather dense here!

I've never seen Halloween, Pigale - but know it's a horror film, so assume it has lots of cuts in it!

Hi malone and pigale - I believe such films are known as `slasher` movies - not my idea of entertainment!
