Hello, Ros!
"A"s as in Grade As...yes, that would work.
I should have seen that, shouldn't I?
Thank you.

I have never watched "Strictly…" so I'm afraid I do not know of the people you mention.

How are you doing in the Sprouts stakes?

Hello, Elle!
Still wild and wet here!
Unless conditions are reasonable there will be no trip to Pine Cone tomorrow.
ASDA will be fine.
And Miss O has a wee job to do for me here, anyway.
5d, "Was"
If you look at "A" in Chambers, one definition is "something or someone of first class or order", so that could give "A's".
Maybe connected to "A-list"?
"W" for women with "A's" is my stab at it.
"A" also the abbreviation for "ace" in cards.
An ace is the highest or best card in a deck.
I think "was" is correct anyway!

Elle

Never found such cheap sprouts as you had, elle. Actually frozen ones are good value.
Am reading the autobiography of Jennifer Worth (Call the Midwife)'s sister. What a terrible childhood after age 10. Her mother locked her out with suitcase aged 14 and her father's second wife would never give either of them any food or bedding on the bed (or even, I think, a mattress) in their bare room.

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, Asda sounds a reasonable proposition if the weather is bad......at least it enables the two of you still to get out and enjoy your "brunch".
We shall go out for an early walk, instead of leaving it till later as we sometimes do on a Sunday.
We are forecast rain later on in the day, and it would be good to get out before that happens.
And I should like if possible to get the tree finished tomorrow.....
Yes, "A"s sounds good for the parsing.
My daughter emailed earlier to say that they had arrived safely in Windsor, and has sent photos.....
The weekend is entitled a "Santa Sleepover".
It sounds fun for the children!

Hello, Ros!
I have read the trilogy of books by Jennifer Worth about her work as district nurse and midwife in the East End in the 1950s.
Very good reading.
I enjoyed the TV series, too.

Good morning, Elle!
The wild weather has passed and it is a lovely day, but the roads are bad with black ice.
So, no Pine Cone trip today.
It is well off the beaten track and conditions could be tricky.
Miss O is coming here instead.
Good luck with your tree!

Good morning, Rusty!
It is a beautiful day here , too.
The sunshine definitely offers up the feel-good factor!
But it is extremely cold...2C when I was out...and there is ice underfoot.
It is very treacherous walking in some places.
I have already done my Everyman puzzle, a nice one with some good parses, but not very difficult today.
I cannot progress any further with decorating the Christmas tree until my husband sorts out the lights.
I do hope to finish it soon, though.
Yes, staying in and having Miss O pop round sounds like good sense.....
And you did say she needed to do a job for you, anyway, so she will be on the spot to do that!

Good evening, Elle!
It is quite cold here, too.
Well done on your puzzle!
How is the tree coming along?
Miss O was here for quite a while.
We had a nice time.
Then she left to go to her Gran's for tea.

Good evening, Rusty!
Dark, cold, and wet here......
I am glad that you and Miss O had a great time together.
My tree is finished!
I am very pleased with my efforts.....
The tree is an extremely realistic looking artificial Canadian Pine ...and it really does look lovely!
I am sure that the grandchildren will love it.
The first ones to see it will be my granddaughter and younger brother when they come to visit with their mum, after school tomorrow!

Hello, Elle!
Oh! The tree is up!
Great stuff!
The young ones will love that, I'm sure.
You will be looking forward to seeing them!
I think I'll head to the cemetery tomorrow after I buy a wreath.
I'll decide in the morning when I see the weather.
It's meant to be dry, though.
