Hi, Rusty!
Now.....I have found this link for you about Id.
I hope it works.....
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Id,_ego_and_super-ego
You are very kind to lay the blame for my incompetence at today's puzzle at the door of my being busy!
But I am afraid that it was over my head......I just couldn't do it!
I did like 9a though - Aquinas.
It is already very frosty here......I looked out onto the street, and all the cars are white.
The dog still has to go out into the garden one last time before bed......
It will take some fortitude to open the door to let her out into the cold!

Oops, Rusty!
That link doesn't seem to have worked - it comes out at the wrong page.....
The entire link should have come up blue...
I shall try again. but if it still doesn't work, you could try copying and pasting it; that just worked for me
But any way here goes…..

Nope, Rusty...
You're going to have copy and paste it......or else Google it.
Sorry it won't work!

Hello, Elle!
Your link (I tried the second one) worked fine, thank you.
I had already looked on YouTube for ID and found several videos about it.
The truth be told, it is way over my head. Way, way, over!
I'll just leave Freud and ID, to others, I think.
That's two days running we have had an Irish county in the puzzle.
Yesterday it was Clare, and today, County Laois.
I like the setters when they get out and about!
No frost here, so far, but it is cold out.
I walked part of the way home with my son, and glad of my jacket!

Hi, Rusty!
Oh, that's odd...it didn't work for me each time when I tried it after I'd posted it to you?
It came out at a different page about ID meaning "identity"!
No mention of Sigmund Freud!
Ah well, so long as you got it!
I couldn't do the Irish County clue?
I have never heard of Laois.
“You're a better man than I am, Gunga Din” comes to mind when you bravely ventured forth into the cold to walk part way home with your son!
I am definitely not going out into the garden with the dog!
She is going to get pushed quickly through a crack in the door!

Hello, Elle!
it took me to a page which I scrolled down to find ID.
Quite straightforward.
Laois is reversed alternately in "Sligo jail",
Sligo is another Irish county.
I missed that one.
If you are interested, Laois is pronounced Leesh.
My walk lasted two minutes, my son lives a stone's throw away from me!

Good morning, Rusty!
It was very strange...when I got up this morning, all the late evening frost had disappeared overnight.
It is still very cold though.......the maximum temperature today is to be 3C!
And one of the lakes in the park was frozen!
I have a free day today......as yet.
I am about to have coffee and make a start on the crossword.
Have you already been out for your paper?

Good afternoon, Elle!
Was hard frost here today, still frosty out!
Yes, I bought my paper this morning.
Had a few things to do.
I have ordered my new 'phone with my present network.
I told them I would be leaving and they aked me why.
I told them their deals were a fair bit dearer than other networks.
They asked me if they matched the best deal would I stay.
I agreed, they even bettered it slightly, and that's it done!
The girl I dealt with was from around Durham way, I think, and very friendly and easy to deal with.

Hi, Rusty!
Well done on your phone deal!
A good achievement.
I had a very leisurely morning....it was good to have no pressure to do anything specific..... or within a certain time frame.
I all but finished the crossword early this morning...I liked today's puzzle.
Just two overlapping clues that I couldn't do.....27a and 19d.
All the rest done and dusted!
I had to wait in for a parcel delivery - the last lot of books that I had ordered for the grandchildren.
The parcel didn't come till 2.45 pm, so then I rushed out with the dog once that had arrived.
Just home again and it is very nearly dark...and freezing cold...... brrh!

Hello, Elle!
Yes, I am pleased with my deal.
'Phone arrives on Monday.
Now, 27a is, "War chest" is "funds for campaign".
"Roguish" is "arch", and the card player is "West".
West collects Arch, giving War chest.
19d, is a new word to me.
"Ruleless" meaning anarchic.
Anagram of "sellers" and "U"/for everyone, in Cinema speak.
I thought it was a fine puzzle, Elle.
I even got the Cockney one, at 21a, though I had to look up "insouciant", another new word for me.
We have an Amber warning for snow and ice.
Not so good!
