Thanks for your help, now just 13ac to do. I realise it's an anagram of "he calm duel", but I cant make anything of it! are my letters correct - ?h?u?-m?d?e ?

That was so long ago! Thanks I appreciate your help, it confirms what I think, but I can't convince myself on the word-play. Still can't see 10A either!

I think 1ac is a whole clue &lit when the extra word is removed. No additional wordplay that I can see.

10ac describes an "after eight", convoluted linear wordplay..

women/remove centre from after/eight although ultimately/unwrapping mint
