In my version column 2 reads EMULE/RAVINED so I replaces E and column 3 reads DEMURER/AVINE with N replacing S. I could be wrong of course !!!

Thanks to everyone on this forum I now have a complete (except for the third letter of 6dn/9dn, is it ASTI?) "corrected" grid but I don't see how the missing I can come from the LOON TOOK crossing as it is no longer a conflict in the new grid. Any enlightenment?

I have spent FAR too long on this crossword. I am in a similar place as you Barretter. I still can't see where the Letter I is discarded. Is there any significance in the initial RIDDLE discard?
If it's any use I have ASCI not ASTI, the C originally coming from the C / R clash with RAY.
I'm glad I don't send these in these crosswords as I would have no confidence with this one!

Hi Unclued, I'd be interested to know how you derived ASCI for 6 down in the first grid. I still can't understand that clue : this is just out of a desire to fully understand the whole crossword. I never send them in : I just do them for FUN (ha, ha, ha - he laughs an ironic laugh).

A4... is extra word
ASCI is plural of ASCUS (cell in which spores formed)
ICSA is abbreviation for Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators

Still no one has got a theory about the "I" in STRIFE!! I can't see where it comes from.

LION and TOOK still clash in the new grid; keep the O and discard the I.

LOON and TOOK are both words so how do they clash?
