Good to have you back, ginge!! I've been out of circulation for a bit but thanks for the clues!! I still havent got the pluto path clue or the gutted sabalo.! I know what I should be looking for - its just that I can't find it.!!
You asked about the quiz - it is an annual quiz always by the same setter - I think you have been given all the other info. Do you know about the twice yearly Rainbow Quiz which is very similar in every way to this one? :-) P

Polly:
47.Another name for Pluto (3 letters) + synonym for path (5 letters) = short form of word for what's left when a plane cuts thru a cloud (the converse of # 29).
48. I + "sabalo" with interior removed + synonym for rod = certain line on a meteorological map.
Can't say more than that, I'm afraid!

34. Found in the centre of the dynamic solar coronae? No, further out. (4)

59. Two letter word for medic and then take the coats off the two names i.e. outer letters and you're left with a 'fine.........'

Thanks ginge and lady bee - I was on the right track with 59 but I was trying to use the coats rather than the insides !! Still puzzling over 34 - will get back to it later.

Polly: take ginge's tip literally & apply it to certain words in the clue!

Thanks greedy kite! I still need several hints but am feeling a bit guilty about asking for so many.
Perhaps someone could tell me if : - 61 begins with A. and 82 begins with W. I have answers but am doubting myself.!! :-) P
