I did this yesterday and found it most enjoyable, though I do have one question mark that others may erase when the dust has settled. I've starred five of the clues, but so many of them are excellent.

Can't get started except with 5 dn and then need an extra letter!
It looks good, I will just have to wait for some help stating when enough time has elapsed

I've heard great things about this puzzle. Can someone tell me - Is it weekly or monthly? - Is Aristophanes kind enough to provide it on a regular basis?

It's monthly, and I'm indeed that kind. It's usually fairly easy, but the clues are almost always a joy- very classy. This one is a bit more challenging simply because you don't always know what the letter count is and where the extra letter goes.

Must point out that syzygy has been posting it for years, but has had to wait for the hard copy to scan. I've just been sending it along to him because I can get it earlier. Even though I'm in the US I'd never done Harper's till he posted it here.

Can't see where the D, the J and the U fit in; otherwise finished.

D and U are crossed. The J (like the W) is uncrossed- at the end of a four-letter entry (the W at the beginning of one, and you only know it's right by the process of elimination).

W & D now probably fixed; I have no J whatever; and no U that's crossed. Presume therefore I have a few wrong. Nevertheless thanx 4 the tips, Aristo.
Also, have discovered the 1st letter of 16d is missing.
Altogether not the easiest Harper's I've done!
