I have the left half of the grid, I think but I must have gone wrong in the top right corner - I cannot get 8 dn. The only answer that could possibly be wrong I think is 9 across but I have 2 possible answers for 13 across which impacts 8 down but I think I have got the right one. 3 down is bugging me...

It's official, I am a moron. Apologies for the last post. I didn't read the instructions properly and was looking for the 8 letter down solutions to fit into the theme. Doh...

Still have no idea about 3 and 14 dn.

For 3D you need a word for the press which is also an old country.

14D could describe Jacques Cousteau

Thanks Ixion - got them now.

I have 18 and 25 ac left. Pretty sure I know 25ac but am stuck with the peasant bit.

Absolutely no idea re 18 across - my grid has 3 Es and an I in the intercrossing squares (not in that order). Any clue?

The peasant is a male Christian name popular in Sweden.

18A doesn't end in E but the others in place are correct.

Thanks - got the error in 5 down - what an idiot I am... So 18 and 25ac now all good. Whilst I am sure it is right, I cannot parse 9 ac.
