Hi Pastille
A few years ago I was called for jury duty. It was a murder trial, which lasted for 3 days.
Incidentally I was elected as foreman.
Not a pleasant experience I can tell you.
Hope you fare better.

Well Joker, I'm glad I didn't read that last night...

Went along this morning at 10,sat in a room with 61 other potential Jurors (room only had 40 seats btb)until 11.10. we where then asked to all move into Court 4, sat for 10 minutes and were told we could all go away until 2 o'clock.

So must dash...hope this afternoon is more interesting...might try and start a sing song a game of I Spy, or spot the gadgie!

see ya...

Pastille - what's a 'gadgie'? Chambers says it's 'usually derogatory, a person'. Not much of a definition!

Pastille, if you are still feeling rough, you can improve your mood by suggesting a seven year imprisonment for someone who dropped litter in the street.

I don't envy you your duties.

Never mind Aristo., the next ten years will soon pass :)

Just a further note Pastille, for your discomfort. In England there are 12 people on a jury, but in Scotland there are fifteen.Unfortunately all Court designs were made in London so up here fifteen people have to fit into space for twelve.

No wonder the Home Rule movement is progressing.

Yes TJ, I've just been on the Urban Dictionary website and was about to recommend it to Joan. When I was on the jury I was sitting next to a gadgie. There aren't any in Edinburgh are there ?

Thanks for the 'gadgie' information - I don't think they exist in Edinburgh!

WELL...Let me tell you the wheels of justice do run slowly.

Back there at 2, 10 to 3, back in Court 4, names out of a goldfish bowl. A 1 in 4 chance...yes me 5th one out!

Much, procedural stuff...case starts at 3.20,
court adjourned 4 of the clock.(Hope you are impressed by my legal speak?)

We have been warned that it will probably go on until Friday...waste of time really. I've made my mind up already!

And Joker...much impressed, comfy seats, flippy out desky bits, monitors, screens, microphones, cameras, lights and...ACTION!

Seriously, I am a bit relieved I was picked today, as the others may be called back for things later on in the week, and on Friday there is a High Court Trial starting.

That could be a nastier one...
