Really starting to annoy me now this puzzle. Already spent longer on the last 8 than the rest of the puzzle, and I am still absolutely nowhere with 5 of them. Does 20d end 'ted'? Ta

Thanks Jordan, got that now. Just 18d left. Can't make head or tail of it. Will continue to ponder.

I've had enough, just going to have a guess. Are the unchecked letters of 18 o and n?

I’m struggling to make progress, in part because I’m so confused about the implications of the preamble—in several cases I seem to have answers that require clashes, but whose clues also require an added letter, which seems to contradict the “all other clues” bit of the preamble. Am I likely mis-solving, or misinterpreting the preamble, or simple not yet aware of a property of the puzzle?

Done, I think. Not quite sure of the relevance of the name. Very challenging and enjoyable. Some very clever cluing. Thanks, Leo!

Smelly, you're on the right track. 2+1+2+1. That was my last. The meaning of the definition still eludes me.

Crowded, I read 'all other' to mean that clues either clashed or were missing letters. Some of the missing letter clues are fiendish.

I did scratch my head for a while wondering if twelve clashes necessarily meant twelve pairs of entries clashing, but I couldn't see any other arrangement.

Barnacle, if you have the name and the two words Google will leave you in no doubt (albeit with ineluctable uncertainty).
