Thanks for the extra clue! Reading it from the bottom definitely changes the perspective. I'll have another look with the "S" abbreviation and the (2,3) phrase for "caught" in mind. Appreciate the nudge!

Any clues for parsing 13d plse. Think I have it but can't figure it!

Find a word that means "hard to accept", then change a B for a W (swap chess players) to mean a left field word for "wrong to assume". (Assume isn't the most obvious meaning)
