Finished my bit of ironing standing in front of the fan. Then tried 17d again - a new word for me, which led to me filling in 21 ac. By this time, I had spotted the theme.

FOI 14ac, LOI 21ac and COI 5/11 and 25ac - there were others.

Allowed me to see that I had 13d wrong – I wasn't familiar with that meaning of assume.

Hi all. All but one in and I’m stuck on 20d - which nobody has mentioned. I can see an obvious answer with a definition of ‘court action’, I can see a two letter word running up in that, but I can’t get the rest from ‘succeeded’.

Hi Gamma, reading from the bottom it’s a one letter abbreviation for succeeded then two words (2,3) meaning caught (as a fish might be).

Finished, sooner than usual. Couldn't parse 13 and 20 until help here from Malone and Gamma.

I don't see a theme ... well, slight "rubber duck moment" (learned that term today!), I suppose I can see something ... but only connecting a minority of the acrosses.

Hi Pamd, some theme items are hiding inside the downs answers e.g. 8, 13, 23.

Got off to a flying start yesterday then got
stuck with only three to complete 16,17 and 27. Had wrong three letter word in 16 , got 17 this morning eventually realised my mistake in 16 but not happy with clue . Got theme very quickly with first clues 5/11 and 9.
COD nothing outstanding but liked 23.
Not as good a challenge as last week.

Malone @19. If your parsing is correct where's the def?
