Thanks Tramp.

Mostly done except intersecting two in NE.

Quite good. Was hard to get into - 26a FOI.

Hi ilippu,

Finding this very difficult, but I have completed the NE, though cannot parse 8d - if you need any hints.

Thanks to Tramp. On the difficult side (though definitely gentler than last week's Paul) but great fun. I recall enjoying T's last Prize as well.
Upper half of grid filled quickly but the Southern half was a struggle.

FOI 1d, LOI 20.

As a wannabe BBC member, co-COD must be the intersecting 16 and 20.
Long list of contenders: 9, 6, 21, 2, 22, 23, 3, 12 and 11.

Have a clear parsing for 24, confident of solution but unsure of definition. Perhaps lacking GK.

Brendan, 8d is really witty and I overlooked it for COD ranking.

Parses as 2, 4. The 2 is "con is set-up" and the 4 "sucker" missing a letter.

Re 8d: Thanks ilippu, thanks Geeker

Re 24a - 5 letter slany term for a "car" minus T which is replaced by 3 letter "dipstick" another slang term - definition is "check"

Hi Geeker
24a I took it to be verb;
3 inside 5 minus T

24d - Well this obscure - according to Google she was a 19th century opera singer.

Although, in Tramp's defence, she was "the most famous and highly paid singer of the late Victorian era"
