Hi Dan,

18d - 4 letter "rib" goes around 2 letter "epistle"

I took an age to parse this!

Thanks, Brendan. I hadn't seen the "rib". D'oh!

Great puzzle from Tramp. Definitely on the tricky side. Still haven't yet fully parsed 13a or 19a which was also my LOI. Also fell for the alternative 1d despite the warnings.

FOI 1a. COD there were many good ones but I'll go for 24a. 20d a bit too cheeky to get the nod.

Nerves a jangling for tonight. Massive FOMO going on as four of my friends got tickets but I didn't.

Thanks Dan,

Re "rib" - you were not alone: See my@14

Hi Rocky,

13a - 4 letter "spice girl" goes around 3 letter "fiery" then 3 letter "over" reversed/'making comeback'

19a - 3 letter "lover" + anagram including/'pick up' D(ate) - definition is "nothing"

Good luck for tonight. I really hope you win - I've despised RM ever since they boycotted a prize-giving ceremony because one of their players didn't win, even though their manager did!!

Thanks Brendan. There's a kind of nothing to lose feel about it. So I'm cautiously optimistic.

Is there a singular/plural mismatch in 20D (LOI!)

Ignore that - it works if it's Latin!

19a feels like a very British expression to me. Not sure those across the pond would be familiar- tell me if I’m wrong!

I’m a bit flummoxed by 11a. Have a word that makes sense but can’t see why it’s “check moving over knight”

Enjoying a not-as-hot day after over 30°C last week was a bit much

Hi chrise. Not sure what you mean. The answer is plural and it’s “they” in the clue, so all plural.
