Well, I've finished. I checked out some on Dan Word, which told me I'd got 2d wrong, which in turn meant I had the wrong answer for 9ac. There are many still left unparsed, though I think I've finally worked out18d. I've no idea why 6d is right, but then sport isn't my thing. I can't parse 15ac, 21d or 18ac either.

I hope all goes well for you Rocky.

FOI 25ac, LOI 20d, COD 19ac and 4d

Tomorrow back to mundane chores - ironing, planting out my annuals I've grown etc.

Hi roof
6d is 4,1. Rugby Union Club is not the most obvious definition (though there is one there).
15a put an A in your answer
21d the "zone for running" refers to athletics, inside a 2 letter abbreviaiton for a type of training.
18a the "saucy thing" is a cheffy affectation!

Well I'm all done, first solve in a few weeks after a few that defeated me.

Thanks for help on here, don't think I'd have cracked 24A without it.

FOI: 10A
LOI: 1D, as I fell into the same trap others did re: alternative "air"

COD: lots of contenders but 7D was a proper "groaner" when the penny dropped!

A long hard struggle and although have finished with help from forum and word search I remain completely baffled by some solutions eg 6 and 8 which are CODs in some posts, so I am missing the obvious!
Never the less enjoyed the challenge FOI 24d LOI 6 , COD 7 but 19 has to be a contender. Full of admiration for those who found it easy.

Hi Dhope,

6d - 4 letter "straight" (think 'drinks') followed by single letter "rugby posts" (look at them in a picture then look at the the final letter) - answer is the name of a rugby club.

8d - 2 "con" reversed/'is set up' followed by a "sucker" minus the Y/'not Yankee's - definition is "pretty certain"

Thanks Dhope, I did wonder if you'd got it when you were talking about a C, which doesn't fit anywhere into the answer or wordplay.

In fairness it was my LOI and I also had to ask for help with the wordplay.

I neither saw "con" as a verb nor did I realise the "sucker" was actually a brand name - albeit a pretty famous one:-)
