Hi Twit and Malone

Look at the plot for V for Vendetta and you might see where the V comes from. It had me stumped for a while.

Sorry edc, but I think this is an allusion too far. And letter v conventionally would be signed by against (versus) not a decades old book/film.

EdC, thanks - but that's definitely a stretch too far for me!

My Private Eye has been delivered today.
Nearly a week late.
I went and bought a copy on Saturday to do the crossword.
Can I enter the crossword twice, for two copies? Or are you limited to one entry?
Does anyone know?

They put the crossword on the website, publicly for free. There is no tie between copy/ies purchased and entries.

But I expect they'd de-duplicate any emails received from the same address before making the draw.

On that note, I have also never won. But have only been tying for somewhere more than ten less than twenty years.

Thanks EdC
I think if I've understood your reference to V for Vendetta correctly, it's also a stretch much too far for me. I think if Cyclops intended such a cultural reference there would be something in the clue to flag it.

For what it's worth, I've never won the Private Eye crossword (either). I can't remember when I started submitting, but probably some point in the last century.

The six-letter tool isn't rude, it's real - used for doing stuff to wood (I think), the 'last of oil' goes insideit, resulting in a smear, asspersion etc.
