I think this clue has been raised before without anyone spelling out the answer (which I'm afraid I need):
23 Beats members' wears (5)
S?C?S
Socks? If so, what's members' wears.

Socks, beats, and also something worn on members. Bradfords Crossword Dictionary lists 'leg, limb' under 'member'. I tend to think I'm putting socks on my feet, rather than my legs - but some of my socks are described as 'knee high' and there are no knees in my feet!

Apropos of nothing... for 11a the only Polanski I could think of was Roman, and with ..e...e.t all I could come up with was FRESH MEAT or SWEET MEAT 😯😂. Well I wouldn't put it past Cyclops! It's what Roman 'goes on', and it kind of matches 'undeveloped land'. Luckily I figured out 1d and the penny dropped 😋
