Okay, I've just listened to that song by Mahalia Jackson and I have to say, I'm not convinced. This prompted me to retry Google, this time using AI, and it attributes it to "a snippet from an opera performance by Joan Sutherland.

Really? 00:15 into the Mahalia song, then 00:34 into the Vini Reilly track, sounds pretty identical to me?

It was great. I don’t think I had heard it before but I love the way he plays.

I'm glad you enjoyed it. The guitarist, Vini Reilly, was the very first artist signed to Factory Records.
