Just going to say that I've got 21a now - thanks anyway, jono.

I doubt that anyone called him Vlad!

This is a tough one to close off. Some fiendish clueing from Imogen. My last one is 11a. I can't stare at it any longer, I need to clear my mind. And I can't parse 23d.

Rocky
11a - on what kind of board do you depress things?
23d - defn last word, 1 letter in a 4 letter word for neighbour
My COD def 17a - made me laugh out loud.

Thanks BuzzyBee. Still not seeing where the one letter comes from in 23d. I'll work on 11a. My pdm has not happened yet.

Agree 17a is one of those groan out loud clues when you get it.

Oh lord. That's even been used before. Probably becomes my COD.

Thanks Imogen. Some quite brilliant misdirection and very enjoyable for the most part.

Strangely I thought 21ac was quite straightforward (if 'forward' is not misleading).
9ac is a bad definition but I don't see the word play.
Also 24dn. I have the answer (I think) but don't see where the first two letters come from.

COD definitely 4dn

danf - 4, move the a in a word for keep. 24 - lose the end of word for spare and substitute the conventional letter for time

After taking the night off (US time), I finally solved my LOI 21.
As often happens in such cases, "it wasn't really so difficult". 🤣
