Easy ro access using the switch end of URL trick. Lacked several Everyman tropes tho. What gives?

Perhaps the beginnings of the two long down answers constitute a pairing. They can go together with ‘or’.
There is a primarily clue, a self reference and geographical reference.

Liked the twist on the usual self-reference clue.
But overall, disappointing.

COD 12 & 5A

Access was straightforward.
The gentlest Everyman in recent memory, but fun while it lasted.
The standard 'paired long clues' feature was either missing or too subtle for me to deduce.

Well, I didn't find this easy at all (although I've been deep cleaning my kitchen all evening and I think breathing in fumes from the cleaning solutions may have made me a bit... 'wobbly', shall we say 🤪)

Spent ages trying to figure out the homophone in 4d having convinced myself that it was split 1,7,1 - obviously that required a rethink before I twigged the correct parsing.

Also got tied in knots in 14d having, on the basis of zero evidence, convinced myself that it was an anagram - I still have no idea why I thought that!

COD: A tie between 6d and 20a.

Thanks to Everyman for an enjoyable challenge.

Why “daikons” though, that seemed rather random. Of course, he could have used “drop of Drambuie “ .. again!

Be careful Jono, we don't want to open that Pandora's box and trigger anyone with that "drop of XY or Z" 😃

I had to look it up what a "daikon" is!

I knew what a daikon is, but I'd expect an appetizer to take that spot in the wordplay. Off the top of my head I can't think of an appetizer beginning with "d", which may account for the off-kilter clue.

Shall we take bets on how long it will take Norah to spot 🤬 and remove the comma it the thread title? 😂

Brendan, I just revisited the Observer page to check...
The Observer includes the comma! So the thread title is correct.
I've no idea whether that's an intentional change of policy. 🤣
